My name is John Carty, past commander of District 16 in Virginia. I am currently in Carlisle, Pa., attending the U.S. Army War College. I have been speedwalking since my arrival here and have worked up to a 7-mile route. I began the challenge on Aug. 5 and completed my first 100 miles this morning with a 7.2-mile workout. This challenge is a great thing for the Legion and for our veterans.
