Wrong Airport

In July of 1986, I was getting ready to go to Orlando Florida for boot camp from Phoenix Arizona.

Well I had just moved to Arizona with my family from Corpus Christi Texas to where I had initially joined into the service. I did all of the initial swearing in and everything in San Antonio, Texas.

Well the day finally came to where I was to be brought to the airport by the recruiter, whom I probably only knew for about 1 month. Well he dropped me off at the wrong side of the airport. I had never flown before this so I had no clue of what was going on except that he had dropped me off at the international side of the airport.

So, I called my recruiter and let him know and the Navy had to put me up in a hotel room for the night.

Fortunately for me, my mother was not to far from the airport to which I had call her to ask if she could bring out more clothes for me since I had to spend another night in Phoenix.

My mother did and the next day I got picked up by the recruiter and dropped off at the correct airport for me to report for boot camp in Orlando.
