Shave That Face, Trainee

I enlisted into the Army Jan. 1967 and was sent to Fort Bragg,N.C., for basic training.

I had just turned 18 yrs old and didn't shave yet. During the 2nd week of basic training, another trainee complained that I was not shaving every morning like everyone else and the Drill Instructor, (Sgt. Strong), gave me a very strongly worded chewing out. I was ordered to shave my face every morning regardless!

Having never shaved one time in my life, I returned to the old barracks and immediately removed the single razor blade hid it and went to the sinks to shave every morning without a blade!

For the next three years of active duty I never shaved even once.

Thank you Sgt. Strong and Boxley for y'all's leadership and guidance.
