The bomb dump on Sheppard AFB

In basic training in 1967; I was in AF Flight 296 on Sheppard AFB in Amarillo, Texas. Our barracks were in a quad. We had to stand fire guard at night. The new Flight fire guard in the barracks next to ours smelled smoke and called in the Flight number instead of the building number. That Flight number was also the number of the bomb dump building on base. The next thing we knew there were fire engines and equipment plus the base commander and all of his aides chewing this poor newby out. Never did find a fire...
