Basic training memories

I was 17 years old, joined the Air Force in June 1959 and had my basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas. On one of the days we were required to perform outdoor activities such as running a course, jumping over walls, putting on gas masks, walking a log over water, eating out of camping utensils, and several other obstacles. At that time I was young, in shape and loved it. Upon getting ready to return to the barracks, the TI (training instructor) threatened us with our life if we did not have all the equipment that we came with. I looked around and could not find my fatigue hat that I previously had in my pocket. At that time in Texas it was over 100 degrees so we were required to wear a pith helmet in the sun. (Looks like a safari hat). I told the TI and he came up to my face and started yelling how stupid I was. After several minutes of degrading me, he said: Airman----"Why don't you look on your XXXXXXX XXXX head under the pith helmet"
