During my time in basic in the Air Force in June 1963, I used my sewing skills my mom had taught me at a young age to help other basic airmen look presentable. When their uniforms came back from the cleaners at least one or more of the big green plastic blouse buttons was crushed while being pressed. I made extra money by sewing on new buttons for $.50 each.
