Adopt a Vet program again a success for community of veterans and their families

Canton, GA

The Cherokee County Homeless Veteran Program, a subunit of Thomas M. Brady American Legion Post 45 in Canton, Ga., and American Legion Post 316 in Woodstock, Ga., recently hosted over 200 veterans and their families for our 7th annual Breakfast with Santa at the Canton post. Santa, his wife and several elves assisted the many families who were there not only for breakfast or to sit on Santa's lap. We had a great mix of homeless veterans, veteran families who need support from the community, and other veterans who came just to share the day and a meal with other veterans. We are so grateful for the community support we got for those who provided us with food, clothes and blankets to provide for those in need.
Auxiliary Unit 45 under the leadership of Betty Lewis also did a great job in working with obtaining sponsors for low-income, homeless, and shut-in veterans to provide holiday gifts and the Christmas meals for these veterans as part of the annual Adopt a Vet program.
