Post 24 holds 100th anniversary pistol match

Bradenton, FL

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kirby Stewart Post 24 in Bradenton, Fla., as well as the Legion's 100th anniversary, we decided to hold the first-ever pistol competition for Legion Family members. Jerry Ham organized the event at the indoor Bullseye Pistol Range in Palmetto, Fla. We had 14 members sign up and the match was held on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. It was an iron sights only match at 50 feet, consisting of 10 RDS slow fire, followed by 10 RDS timed fire and then 10 RDS rapid fire. The event was won by Dan Roberts, who would rather not have his score announced. Everyone had a great time at this fun, low-pressure event and wanted to know when the next event will be held. Awards were given out to the top five finishers at the December post and Riders meetings. Our next match is being planned for February or March 2019. In the meantime, the post is holding weekly theme dances that are open to the public, and selling 100th anniversary beer mugs and challenge coins. A grand BBQ, party and poker run is scheduled for March 2019.

For God and Country,

Jerry Ham
Match Director
