Gold Star Post 676 in Durand, Ill., recently completed a project to celebrate the American Legion centennial as well as our upcoming 2021 centennial.
We have published a 249-page, hardcover book titled "Veteran's Stories from Small Town America." The book covers historical events of the post and the Durand area, local monuments, and information on the service histories of over 500 veterans with local connections.
On November 9 our book was unveiled and made available for purchase at a book launch event. This was the culmination of a two and a half year project. We are very proud of the finished product and feel honored to have undertaken this labor of love.
