Clinton County, Ill., has 9 American Legion posts, 3 VFW posts, 1 Catholic War vet post and 1 Vietnam organization that have a joint Veterans Day service. Our day begins at 9:30 with a Mass, this year at St Dominic's Church in Breese, Ill.; then to Legion Post 252 for a dinner. At 1 p.m. we have a guest speaker who talks about what Veterans Day means to him. Then at 2 p.m. we line up for a parade that starts at 2:30. After the parade everyone comes back to the Breese Hall for a dance and a 50/50 raffle drawing; we end at about 6:30 p.m.
Each year a different post in the county holds this celebration. Next year it will be at New Baden, Ill.
