The Neal Thomas Jr. Centennial Post 209 honor guard participated in the Pikes Peak National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony on May 30, 2022. The ceremony included participation by many veterans, veterans groups and military. As part of the ceremony, eight members of the team performed three rifle volleys followed by the Sons of the American Revolution and the Colorado Military History Group firing three guns (cannons), then the sounding of taps. The event, open to the public and drawing hundreds to the ceremony, was a welcome change from the COVID lockdowns canceling 2020’s ceremony and keeping 2021 closed to the public.
