Department of Idaho Legion Family donates to children with cancer

Idaho Falls, ID

The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Department of Idaho makes $10,500 donation to Camp Magical Moments Cancer Camp for Kids, Inc.

This year the Department of Idaho’s commander’s and president’s project was to raise money to send children with cancer to summer camp. They chose Camp Magical Moments in Swan Valley, Idaho, to be the recipient of this effort.

Camp founder/director Ann Walsh brought with her children, camp staff volunteers and parents who have benefited from attending this camp when the department presented her with a check on July 22, 2013.

Gimpel said, “The generosity of our members amazed me as we raised money to send children with cancer to summer camp.”

Gehring said of the joint fundraising project, “The Legion and Auxiliary members all pitched in and we had some exciting moments as we continued to ask wallets to open for us - what an awesome group of people that have donated all year to this project as we had 50/50 cash-prize raffles and drawings for wonderful gifts.”

Idaho’s Children & Youth committees donated $1,500 from the Legion and $1,000 from the Auxiliary, making the final total $10,500, so that 15 children can attend the 10th annual session to be held in June 2014.
