Mason City, IA -- On the weekend of Aug. 18-19, the Newman High School Class of 1967 celebrated their 50th reunion. Of the graduating class of 112, 12 men and two women served in the military. Seven of those veterans attended the reunion and were awarded Quilts of Valor in honor of their service. The quilts were presented by classmates Kathy Jones, who also organized the reunion, and Gloria Debower; both are members of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Receiving the awards were Mike Cross, Bob Shannon, Terry Boyle, Tony Flores, Jim McCoid, Ron Reicherts and Dave Nelson. Total service time for the seven was 105 years, including time served in the Army, Army Reserve, Army National Guard, Navy, Navy Reserve and Air Force.
