The post also won the 2019-2020 Multi/Media Award (Division 3) for furthering the mission, message and programs of The American Legion through national publication venues. In addition, McFarlain was presented the department’s Post Publicity Chairman Award for 2019-2020 and for 2020-2021. In accepting all the awards, McFarlain expressed appreciation for the efforts of the editor and staff of the Jennings Daily News for their support in helping to tell the story of The American Legion and all veterans. McFarlain also acknowledged the assistance of the Post 19 Publicity Committee, composed of Mike Sanchez, Sam Doucet and Mindy Hetzel of the Jennings American Legion Hospital, for their help in publicizing the contributions of veterans and the military. The Department of Louisiana did not have a convention last year because of the COVID pandemic, so recognition for last year’s awards was made at this year’s convention.
