Remembering a shining spirit

Matt Davison - San Pedro, CA

Carey 'Doc' Spearman was a U.S. Army medic who served in Vietnam during Tet. After service, Carey became a member of the New York Police Department and lived in Staten Island, N.Y., where he was a member of American Legion Post 316 in that community. After his military and police service, Spearman turned his attention back on Vietnam, especially the children and at-risk citizens. Working in tandem with Vietnamese monks, he built a health-care facility and a school to teach English. He also dug clean water wells, donated hundreds of pounds of food, water and medical supplies. The monks he worked with just created 600 high-quality face masks, which they want to donate to the New York Police Department in memory of "Angel Carey" who recently left this world due to COVID-19. On this Memorial Day, I wish to honor the memory of Carey 'Doc' Spearman, a true warrior for peace. For more information, please Google "Remembering Carey Spearman." Thank you.
