Members of Balfour-Cole Post 64 in Smithfield, R.I., gathered to honorably retire an estimated 200 flags on Flag Day 2022. Post members had been instrumental in getting a new flag collection box located at Smithfield's Town Hall, and the citizens of our town have responded, placing dozens of flags each month in the box. A number of flags that were placed in the box, but were in nearly new condition, were saved and distributed to replace flags around town that needed to be retired.
