NC Post 68 flag-raising for local community group

Leland, NC

Magnolia Greens Golf club in Leland, N.C., was presented with a new flag by members of local John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 on Friday, Sept. 2.

The ceremony retired the old flag with honors and replaced it with a flag that had been flown over the battleship North Carolina in Wilmington, N.C. The management of Magnolia Greens was presented with a certificate for their flag to verify it had flown over North Carolina.

The old flag will be retired at a flag retirement ceremony to be held sometime in October in Leland. Boy Scout Troop 747 assists The American Legion with that ceremony, which includes over 450 retired flags.

The American legion has helped other community organizations with retiring and raising new flags in our community. Please contact us if your group wishes for The American Legion to assist with your flag replacement.
