Post 178 Oratorical Contest winner recognized by Frisco City Council

Frisco, TX

Harbani Kohli, a junior at Reedy High School, was presented a Certificate of Recognition by City of Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney at the March 16, 2021, City Council meeting for her outstanding performance winning the American Legion Post 178 Oratorical Scholarship Speech Contest and the 4th District contest earlier this year. For winning the two contests, she received $750 scholarships.

At the contests she delivered two orations, a prepared oration and a randomly assigned constitutional topic oration. Ms. Kohli impressed the judges with her prepared topic oration, titled “We Are the People," and assigned topic oration, Article III, Section 1 concerning the Supreme Court.

Ms. Kohli has an immense interest in political science, international relations, foreign policy, politics and humanitarianism. She aspires to attend law school and work for the United Nations and/or the United States Department of State. This summer she has been selected as a legislative intern with a state representative at the Texas State Legislature in Austin.
