An American Legion Operation Comfort Warriors grant was obtained with the Department of Alabama and used to get a 2023 five-passenger transport cart for the Birmingham VA Medical Center.
“The American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors program was created to provide ‘nonessentials’ – items that help wounded warriors' recovery but don’t usually show up as a budget line on government spreadsheets,” according to the American Legion website.
Members of the Post 911 family at the transfer ceremony on June 6 included Jana Avellana, Ron Bradstreet, Ginger Branson, Fred Hughes, Kyle Morrison and Lynn Thomas. Rico Hall, national executive committeeperson, was also in attendance.

Ron Bradstreet, assistant national executive committeeperson, speaks at the ceremony.
