Georgia Gives Day

Atlanta, GA

ATLANTA, May 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) announced today that the fourth annual Georgia Gives Day will take place on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015. This statewide online fundraiser will drive awareness and donations for participating nonprofits across Georgia, encouraging residents to come together for a 24-hour day of giving. This year Mundy-Beck American Legion Post 911 is among the 1,500 nonprofits selected to participate in this event.
Since the inaugural event in 2012, Georgia Gives Day has brought nearly 30,000 donors to more than 2,000 participating organizations, raising more than $5.1 million to support the nonprofits' individual causes. Donors can give directly to nonprofits on Georgia Gives Day — or any day of the year — by searching for and selecting an organization, cause or locale on GAgives.org.
"During Georgia Gives Day 2014, we were able to raise more money than the first two years combined due to continued support from our nonprofits and corporate partners, and increased engagement from Georgia residents," said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of GCN. "We hope to continue building on that momentum and look forward to reaching new heights in 2015."
Georgia Gives Day 2015 will once again feature popular prize competitions throughout the day, such as last year's Power Hours, Golden Tickets and leaderboards, adding excitement and incentives to donate on Nov. 12. Stay tuned for more information this summer related to competitions and Georgia Gives Day initiatives, which are made possible through the generous support of GCN's corporate and foundation funding partners.
Georgia Gives Day has proven to be a popular way for nonprofits to engage with both current and new constituents. According to a survey of all donors who participated in Georgia Gives Day 2014, 9 percent made their first-ever donation to a nonprofit, 15 percent gave to a new nonprofit and 20 percent donated more than they budgeted to give on Georgia Gives Day.
