Jason Castleberry speaking to members of the 1st, 4th, and 5th District Department of Texas

Legion College graduate engaging new members through training

Commerce, TX

One of the biggest issues we have in The American Legion is membership engagement. Members who do not get involved or find their niche eventually quit renewing their membership. To combat, that 2018 American Legion College graduate Jason Castleberry started a new-member orientation training seminar covering numerous topics that apply to integrating new members into the Legion.
Some of the classes we taught were:
History of The American Legion
Four Pillars and the programs associated with the Pillars
Meeting protocols
Officer roles
The wear of the American Legion cap, and how to order one
Post, district, division and department, and how they interact/convention schedules
How can you help your local post
Integrating these new members into a post is vital for the success of the organization and will help improve the retention rate.
