Lee Greenwood to headline Vietnam welcome-home event, with Legion posts' help

On Saturday, March 28, 2020, Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran’s Day will be held at Laishley Park in Punta Gorda, Fla.
American Legion Post 103 (Punta Gorda), Post 110 (Port Charlotte), Post 254 (North Port) and Post 159 (Venice) provided monetary donations, color guards and committee members, and organized events.
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with a parade followed by ceremonies at the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Punta Gorda.
At 1 p.m., the Last Patrol, a St. Petersburg-based organization, will honor those who gave their lives. This will be followed by a UHIE helicopter flyover.
Beginning at 1 p.m., the Boogiemen and the Jack Michaels band will take the stage.
At 7 p.m., award-winning country music artist Lee Greenwood will perform his numerous hits which will include his Grammy-winning song "God Bless the USA."
At 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27, prior to the main event, there will be a party at the Four Points Sheraton Tiki Bar with music and refreshments.
The cost is $20 per person for non-veterans. ALL veterans will be admitted free with some form of ID, i.e. VA card, driver’s license with the V, membership card from the VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, Marine Corps League, etc. will be accepted.
