First responders have an incredibly difficult task of keeping us safe while also being under a huge microscope. Often they are received as the enemy by the media, but they work extremely hard to perform jobs most people refuse to do. I personally gained a big appreciation for first responders after 9/11 and seeing the heroic acts they performed that day without regard to themselves or their well-being.
That's one reason we take time each year to recognize Royse City's finest. This year our Firefighter of the Year is Gary Wallace and our Police Officer of the Year is Cindy Carr. Both of them exemplify professionalism and love for the community. Royse City is honored to recognize them with these awards.
