4th annual American Legion Post 382 ride for homeless veterans

Menomonee Falls, WI

Show your support and help homeless veterans while enjoying some outdoor summer fun!

Please join us Saturday, Aug. 28, for the 4th Annual Ride for the Homeless Veterans and Community Block Party. All are welcome and encouraged, as we join to create awareness of this incredible cause. Over the last three years we have raised $30,000 for the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative.

The day will begin with a vehicle ride and will expand into a block party. This scenic ride will stop at six American Legion posts. Individual posts will have raffles or other fundraising activities. The ride, open to everyone, will begin at the Menomonee Falls post with registration that includes breakfast at 8 a.m. with the ride following at 9 a.m.
While others are out enjoying their ride, there will be plenty of ways for the local community to enjoy some outdoor fun and show their support. Enjoy some live musical entertainment, test your skills in a ‘bags tournament’, take a peek at the hundreds of raffle baskets, enjoy delicious food trucks, shop at our local vendor booths, and let's not forget the chance to see some real-life military vehicles.

Sad but true, the reality of so many of our veterans. On any given night there are almost 40,000 veterans without shelter, accounting for 11% of the adult homeless population. Sadly, 40% of these homeless veterans are much younger than the general homeless population, as young as 31-50 years old.
Unfortunately, 51% of individual homeless veterans have disabilities. These disabilities range from physical, mental, intellectual and sensory disabilities to any combination of multiple factors. These mental illnesses stem from their service experience and are exacerbated by the financial and social issues they face after returning home. All of which aided in their inability to get a job, as a result leaving them without means to afford shelter or essentials to survive independently in society.
This is where we, the community, can show our support for their efforts and sacrifices. Simply attending and participating in our event will help raise funds that go to the MHVI. All proceeds will give these individuals the assistance they need.

This is a day for us all to come together and do what we can to help those who sacrificed so much for us!
