Veterans Day

Leonia, NJ

A ceremony for Veterans Day has been held at American Legion Post 1, Leonia, N.J., since 1920 when it was the Armistice Day Ceremony. We have tried to let the community know of the struggles and sacrifices of our troops over the years: their tours of duty from WWI right to today. The good times like sharing a Christmas pudding traded for with British troops for American cigarettes. Bob Hope tours throughout the years and the stars who came with him. The bad times; very general and the joy of coming home. Those veterans who had to wait for many years to receive medals or benefits.
We request the community to write to their representatives in the government to push for the return of our POW/MIAs, the expansion of veteran benefits, and the speeding-up of approval of VA approval for disabilities.
