VA celebrates the Operation Mobility Tour kickoff with Dean Kamen.

Auxiliary member's company helps deliver mobility to veterans

Manchester, NH

During the pandemic Laura, a member of Wesley Wyman American Legion Auxiliary Unit 16 (Goffstown, N.H.), made a career change. Much of the reason for her interest in pursuing this role was the company's support of veterans. She was offered a position as the director of external partnerships at Mobius Mobility.
Mobius Mobility in Manchester, N.H., are the proud inventors of the iBOT personal mobility device. The iBOT is a power wheelchair with abilities beyond most people’s beliefs. It trudges through sand, snow, conquers curbs, trail exploring, climbs stairs and most importantly, brings the user to eye level with those around them. Mobius hired Laura to help orchestrate a tour across the USA to gift these devices to 25 VA Spinal Cord Injury Centers and 25 additional veterans. The company truly is giving freedom to those vets who need it!
The creator of the device, Dean Kamen, came together with the VA health-care system during the pandemic by delivering 1,400 tons of PPE to VA by calling on his existing business relationships. He arrived in an iBOT and VA took notice.
The iBOT is a revolutionary medical technology that will help injured veterans to lead full lives.
Currently any veteran who receives their care through VA and is prescribed one of these devices is eligible to receive it at no cost to them, through the Federal Supply Schedule.
“Our goal is to deliver the mobility and independence our disabled veterans deserve,” Kamen said. “It’s often said as a nation we are in debt to veterans for their service and sacrifice. The best way to repay this debt is to deliver advanced technology that enables them to live life on their own terms and to be as healthy and independent as possible.”
Laura is excited to be working for a company that is supporting our veterans in living a more active, independent and adventurous life!
