Visiting a hero

I was a corpsman with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam 1967-1968. I spent all of my time at Delta Med in Dong Ha. Many men came through there, and one of them I didn't realize who he was at the time. He was a Marine captain who came by to check on his men.
It wasn't until my 20th high school reunion that i found out who he was. This Captain was Richard Higgins, one of my classmates. By the time he was in Vietnam, he was lean and mean. I didn't recognize him then. He was later kidnapped and executed in Lebanon.
One year when my son and I were in D.C., we went to Arlington to visit his grave. The receptionist told us that he was in Quantico National Cemetery. He had wanted to be buried with the rest of the men. He was and was right there with them.
He was a real hero to me, who was always looking out for his men and wouldn't ask them to do anything he wouldn't do.
Rest in peace, Richard.
