We are Pam Matt and Terri Keeney and we make up Helping Heroes Fly. (www.helpingheroesfly.com) We provide airfare to enlisted military members to get home for special occasions, important life events or holidays when they need to most but can't afford it on their own.
Terri became aware that getting home, especially for our junior enlisted, is literally a luxury in most cases. Pam knew first hand because her son served in the Marines. Together we decided to do something to support our troops in a tangible way...with airfare. We stared our 501c3 nonprofit in Feb of 2016 and to date have provided 88 troop members with airfare to get home for such occasions as birth of baby, pre-deployment visit, saying goodbye to mom before she passes of cancer, many memorials or funerals, weddings and of course holidays among others. Just yesterday we purchased 13 tickets for Marines in MD who needed to lay one of their own brothers to rest in IL after he was tragically killed. We operate solely on donations. We use 90% of donations for airfare and operate on 10% or less. We can do this because we donate 100% of our time and many resources. We operate out of our homes, often times at Pam's dining room table. Since we are just a 2 woman team, small but mighty, we do need lots of help getting the word out about what we do so we can reach donors who'd like to join or efforts. Like Pam always says, our donor's make it possible, we are just the vehicle. Our Facebook page is full of stories, pictures and reviews by those we've helped, and let me assure you, they are beyond grateful that people are putting "support oru troops" into action via airfare.
