If These Boots Could Talk

If These Boots Could Talk
by
Jean Meyer
If these boots could talk I wonder what stories they would tell
About the men and women who wore them in their war from hell?
From the first world war to the wars of today
Each has their own story of strife and dismay
With stress destruction and death all around
These boots walked through deserts, over mountains and lots of muddy ground
On land, in air and on the sea
These boots have seen more than anyone should see.
The battles the conflicts, gun fire and bombs
The disaster devastation, the critical and the dead
And these boots were told don't stop keep moving instead.
Now the boots stand empty at the end of the hall
And I wonder what stories they can tell.
