Veteran hero in West Palm Beach, Florida

There happens to be a 96 year old veteran in West Palm Beach, Florida that has been honored many times over. His name is Carmin Francis Yannotta and he will be 97 on August 14.

He had just been accepted on the Yankees baseball team when the war broke out. He chose serving his country over a career in baseball with the Yankees. Carmin has been interviewed on the news station in West Palm a few times. He has gone on the honor flight to Washington, D.C. on April 18, 2015, a day he will cherish forever. He also was among the veterans honored at the Heroes Among Us show at the BB&T Center, February 14, 2018.

Last August, on his birthday, since we couldn't be together, his family, friends and co-workers did a drive-by salute to him. There were over 20 cars all blasting their horns and waving to him.

My Dad works as a greeter at Home Depot in West Palm Beach on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for three hours a day. He has been honored at Home Depot and they gave him a special apron to honor his service. During the pandemic, they had him stay home for a while, but recently asked him back since he has had his shots. When he arrived at work, all the employees greeted him at the door with applauds and cheers, and welcomed him back. He was so moved.
