First Family Fun Fest held at John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.)

John J. Morris Post 62 - Peoria, AZ

On Sept. 2, 2023, all the families of John J. Morris Post 62 - the Legion, Auxiliary, SAL and Riders - came together to host an open house and community event. There were 20 information/sales booths with a silent auction, raffle, meal and a band for the more than 300 people who came through. When over, each family had more than $500 profit each to donate to a local military-related charity. The event generated new members and several renewals as well. The local fire department brought an engine, and the local police brought their honor guard trailer for people and families to look at and enjoy. The first event was a huge success, and when over several were already reviewing the event and figuring out how to make next year even better. So proud of our post families coming together and making it a wonderful event for all that attended.

Handmade quilt by Auxiliary President Kathy Amery that was part of the silent auction.

Color Guard Captain Barney Becklund had flags and related items for sale by the color guard.

The local favorite band Reboot entertained the crowd and kept them dancing all afternoon.

Mission 22 was one of the information tables available for the guests to visit and learn at.
