Greece Post 468 raises $12,300 in two events

Greece American Legion Post 468 - Rochester, NY

I am the commander of the Greece (N.Y.) American Legion Post 468. I am writing to tell everyone about the great things our post has done this past week. On Jan. 31, we held a pasta dinner benefit for a local Army Reserve soldier. He is 38 years old and the father of four. On Dec. 28, he had a massive stroke. He was in the Intensive Care Unit for over two weeks but he and his family were able to attend the benefit and stay the entire time. We served 365 meals and raised over $8,000 for the Hand family!

Then on Feb. 8, a group from our post, named The Post 468 Polar Cubs, raised over $4,300 for Special Olympics by jumping into the ice filled waters of Lake Ontario! It was an extremely cold and windy day with a temperature of 9 degrees. Our Auxiliary started doing this years ago and has since persuaded some SAL members and Legionnaires to join them. I am so proud of our post!

In just eight days we raised over $12,300 for two great causes. We are what the Legion Family is meant to be!
