Small-town 4th of July

1980 - Woodland Park, CO

Woodland Park, Colo., is a small Rocky Mountain town, Elevation 8500 ft. Each 4th of July the town puts on an Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration in Memorial Park. Post 1980 has been participating ever since its inception. As a fundraiser we sell brats, hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches, taking only donations for the food and drink. In addition, the post color guard performs a ceremonial flag raising at noon while the national anthem is played. We hand out American flag stickers to all the kids. The Auxiliary participates by having a spin-the-wheel where every kid wins a patriotic trinket, and selling sweet treats.
