Taking a que from national organization's successful online voting campaign to win a $250,000 Pepsi Refresh Everything grant for Operation Comfort Warrior, Shelton Post 297 submitted a hometown project to the Pepsi Refresh Everything website for a chance at a $50,000 grant to fund the purchase and installation of a waterslide at the municipal swimming pool in Shelton Nebraska.

Citing a decline in the number of youth utilizing the pool during the summer, Post 297 decided to submit the project to Pepsi in an effort to fight childhood obesity and hopefully lure kids and families away from their TV's, video games and computers.

If successful, the pool slide will be funded and installed this summer in the town of approximately 1100 people in south-central Nebraska. The concrete expansion project will be completed by the end of this month and will be ready for the pool slide when the project gets funded. The community has also been raising funds for the new slide since last summer.
