New Jersey Christmas cheer

Waterford Township, NJ

A little Christmas cheer was brought to Veterans Haven South in New Jersey by members of the American Legion Family. The Veterans Transitional Housing Program (Veterans Haven South) is a New Jersey state-operated facility for homeless veterans. Spearheaded by the Waterford Township American Legion Post 311 family, Christmas dinner and gift bags were prepared, and delivered to the residence on Christmas Day. There was even a special visit by Santa, Detachment Vice Commander Henry F. Hasselhan, to greet some of the residence and help deliver food and gift bags. The gift bags were assembled with items donated from various posts from the Department of NJ and the Detachment of NJ, that included cookies, candies, personal items, winter caps, ball caps and gift cards. The food was all home-cooked and included ham, venison, baked ziti, collard greens, cornbread stuffing, and many desserts.
