Women Veterans Showcase Military Scarecrows at Arts and Crafts Festival

SPRINGFIELD, MO

Cider Days on Historic Walnut Street Arts & Crafts Festival is a long-standing tradition in Springfield, Missouri, attracting approximately 10,000 people each year. But this year marked the first for Women Veterans of SW Missouri, American Legion Post 1214, to provide an entry into Scarecrow Village. The entry, which was limited to four crows, depicted women veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines with an American flag backdrop and painted pumpkins representing each branch of service.

In existence less than five years, members of Women Veterans of SW Missouri are always looking for creative ways to promote their post. Five women's American Legion posts exist in the state of Missouri with Post 1214 being the second largest.
