I enjoyed my 100-mile Legion Ride For Hope by motorcycle to visit my 89-year-old friend Irving Valvick, who lives near Ledyard, Iowa, and is a member of the Ledyard post. The trip was actually 123 miles from my Northfield, Minn., post, and we're friends connected by membership in our Veterans Club at Golden Vista RV Resort in Apache Junction, Ariz. COVID-19 is always on our minds, but it was a beautiful sunny day where we could keep a social distance as we toured Irving's family farm and local community. We wish the Veterans & Children Foundation the best in their mission, and thanks for the opportunity to get out and visit while exercising during these unusual times.
