My husband and I are both veterans and have always been avid walkers. Seven years ago my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Walking has become more difficult for him, but we decided to do the 100-mile challenge to support the worthy causes of The American Legion. Plus it was a great way to keep my husband mobile at this difficult time. We continue to walk and have been encouraged by other Legion members. We have a wonderful Legion organization here in Turtle Lake, N.D., and we are able to use the Legion building during the cold winter months to get our daily walks in. We have also invited community members to walk with us and it has been very successful. Thanks again!
