My basic training was in June 1980 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Let me first say, I would rather freeze than be warm. With that being said, my flight was one of the last few to occupy the old barracks. We were cooled by one fan at the end of the barracks. June in Texas was hot. The new Recruit Housing and Training (RHT) buildings were air conditioned.

My fondest memory was volunteering for guard duty at the RHTs every possible chance I got.
