A Problem in the Ranks

My brother & I entered Basic Training at Lackland AFB in October 1958.

Laud T. Burton from Missouri was in our flight. He had trouble learning how to march. His step was off & on occasion he'd trip the man in front of him.

The Training Instructor (TI) re-positioned him to rear road guard. That worked quite well as he pretty much meandered along behind the rest of the flight.

One day as the TI marched us up in front of the mess hall, he said; "Flight halt! Whoooaaa, Burton!"
