Edward Mc Laughlin

I was in the Army from October 1 1963 to September 30 1965, I remember my basic traing at Fort Dix NJ. I was doing a field march on Nov 22 1963 when President Kennedy was killed. We were out on the field in the woods; I was in the 3rd platoon when the word came to us. I could not believe this was happening. The sergeant ordered the field march to be cancelled and was told to return to our barracks. We were shocked to hear what had happened and I still think of it when November 22 rolls around, after all these years. The people were all crying who worked in the PX and seemed like a heck of a day and great loss was a young man, and here was a young president.
