Boot dorm guard

I was in the 3706 BMTS at Lackland AFB, Texas, from Feb '65 to Apr '65.
There were dual barracks with about 50 boots in each of two flights on each side of the barracks. Separating the sides of the barracks were day-rooms upstairs and downstairs. The main entry to barracks was between the sides, adjacent to the lower day-room, with a staircase going upstairs adjacent to the entry.
One day the squadron commander, Maj. Wong, was giving a presentation to one of the flights in the upstairs day-room. While he was giving his presentation, the admin. officer, a second lieutenant, approached the entry. The boot airman guarding the entry called the barracks to attention. The lieutenant inquired whether Maj. Wong was upstairs. The boot answered, "Yes, Sir!" The lieutenant said, "Are you going to keep him at attention for a lieutenant?" He replied, "No, Sir," then hollered upstairs "Maj. Wong, Parade Rest!"
