Squadron 1682 in New York donates to local peer-to-peer veteran support organization

On Monday, Feb. 13, Sons of The American Legion Squadron 1682 donated $2,500 to the Rockland County Joseph P. Dwyer Veteran Peer Support Program. The Dwyer program was chosen due to its important mission of suicide prevention and peer support for those with PTSD. The Dwyer mission is in keeping with The American Legion's "Be the One" national campaign for suicide prevention. In attendance at the presentation ceremony were United States Congressman Mike Lawler, representatives from New York State Sen. Bill Weber's office and Town of Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann. The donation was presented by Squadron Commander Justin Elmendorf. Accepting the donation on behalf of the Dwyer program were Director Mark Woods and Outreach Specialist Ismael Quintana.
