On Sunday, April 28, 2024, the John J. Morris Post 62 hosted its first ever comedy night to raise money for our youth for Boys State and Girls State. Three national comedians performed to over 85 post members. The host kicked off the night by bringing up a gentleman to begin the event with the singing of the national anthem, with most of the crowd joining in. Half of the ticket prices went to the comedians and the other half to the fundraiser. There was also a donation jar when people were leaving for additional donations to the charity. The auxiliary served meals to everyone 90 minutes prior to the show starting. Laughter ruled the night of clean comedy and ended with a standing ovation to all the performers. With the success of the event, there is talk of making it a quarterly event to raise money for different programs for the whole family. It was a great time of humor for all the veterans in attendance and good for the soul.
