The John C. Londraville American Legion Honors Four Purple Heart Recipients

Cape Vincent , NY

The John C. Londraville American Legion Post 832, Cape Vincent, New York, held its annual Veterans Day parade and Memorial Service. First Sergeant Juan Tovar, Fort Drum, was a guest speaker. Immediately following the service, four Purple Heart recipients, who resided in the Legion district, were honored by the Legion and community, not only for their prestigious award, but for their service to our nation as well. Troy Bryan received his prestigious award in 2006 while serving in Iraq, Ron Murray, 1970, Vietnam, Brian Hartmuller, 1968, Vietnam and John Blodgett, 1967, Vietnam.

They received accolades and awards from village, town, county, state and federal officials, including Congresswomen Stefanik and Tenney, Governor Hochul and Senator Chuck Schumer. Representatives from Fort Drum presented them with personal notes from Major General Anderson. The Bashaw Elementary Students created a framed Purple Heart for each recipient. A decree by the County Legion Commander and personalized plaque from the Legion concluded the event. Over 100 people attended to show their appreciation for these veterans and their service. A special tribute was also given to the POW/MIA table and to all veterans who served and who are still serving.
