Honor guard of American Legion Post 166 participates in Wreaths Across America

Goose Creek, SC

On Dec. 16 at 1200 hours, Wreaths Across America was observed across the country.
Here in South Carolina, that played well with the activities of Gator Post 166 located in Goose Creek, a bedroom community of Charleston.
The American Legion Riders unit at the post, along with other veteran groups and our own honor guard, were at Carolina Memorial Gardens when the wreath truck arrived on-site.
Over 800 wreaths were distributed by veterans, loved ones, Scouts, JROTC units and others around the cemetery to remember all the veterans interred there at Christmas.
The Honor guard placed a wreath on one of their own, former HG captain and Navy veteran Gene Heiselman. Gene's wife Cheryl, an honor guard member, also participated in the ceremony.
These are the activities that make the Legion, and its umbrella groups, different from others.
For that we are truly thankful!

For the guard,
L David Coates
Captain of HG, Post 166
