On Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the annual Beebe Chamber of Commerce awards banquet, Beebe American Legion Post 91 was awarded the “Hometown Hero Award.”
“We epitomize family in our post,” Commander Doug Warner said. “Every event and program the post engages in or supports, has members of The Legion, the Auxiliary, the Sons of The American Legion and the Legion Riders participating.” Post 91 has officers at all levels of The American Legion. They are well known within Beebe for Taco Tuesdays and BBQ Mondays. The post family has a BBQ booth and an activities booth at Beebe’s annual Fallen Bird Festival and are active in the city's chamber of commerce. They worked with the city of Beebe to change a section of a local road running adjacent to Veteran’s Park to “Freedom Way.” The list of involvement of Post 91 members is extensive and their impact is evident across the Department of Arkansas. Here is the citation read at the Beebe Chamber of Commerce banquet.
Tonight, we have the privilege of presenting the Hometown Hero of the Year Award to an organization that epitomizes the essence of service and community dedication: American Legion Post 91.
American Legion Post 91 stands as a beacon of hope and support, a veteran-centric family organization deeply committed to enhancing the lives of our veterans, students and all members of our community. Within its walls reside four distinct organizations: the Auxiliary, the Sons of The American Legion, the Legion Riders, and the American Legion itself. Despite their shared home, each entity operates independently, allowing for a focused pursuit of the respective missions and goals.
The significance of The American Legion Post 91 family transcends its organizational structure. It is a collective force for good, engaging in annual programs that benefit young Americans at both the local and national levels. Through fundraising efforts and dedication, all four organizations contribute to various initiatives, from supporting local scholarships to purchasing school supplies, sponsoring sports teams and art and civics education in our schools.
But it’s not just their actions that make The American Legion Post 91 exceptional; it’s their leadership and legacy. With a storied history of leadership at the district, state, and national levels, they have consistently exemplified excellence in service. Their numerous activities and unparalleled involvement have earned them the well-deserved moniker of “The Biggest Little Post."
