Post 154 honors veteran educators in school district

Kerlin-Lyerly American Legion Post 154 presented a check for $500 during its April membership meeting at the Pflugerville Library on April 11, 2016, to the Pflugerville Education Foundation (PEF). Accepting the check (from left)are Reanae Mitchell, Pflugerville Education Foundation Board Member, Alex Torrez, Ph.D., Pflugerville Superintendent of Schools, Robin Ayers, President, Pflugerville Education Foundation, Brian Allen, Post Commander, Vernagene Mott, President, Pflugerville Independent School District, and Ken Dalfonso, 1st Vice Commander.
The donation establishes an initial grant for veterans or currently serving Guard/reservists employed by the Pflugerville ISD to offset the cost of professional education. "This is another great opportunity to recognize those who have served their county in the armed forces and continue to serve in public education," said Dalfonso. "Pflugerville supports its veterans and we are proud to support Pflugerville ISD. From Boys State, the Big Event, JROTC and the annual Veterans Day event at Pfluger Park, The American Legion and Pflugerville ISD continue to work together to make our community strong."
