Student requests support from Eagan Post 594

Eagan, MN

On Feb. 4, members of the Eagan American Legion Post 594 Color Guard retired the U.S. flag at the School of Environmental Studies. Student Greta Weix reached out to the post, looking for help in replacing the 3’x5’ flag that was being displayed on the school’s 30’ flag pole. The post donated a new 5’x8’ flag to the school to correct the situation. The ceremony was well attended by both students and faculty, who appreciated now having a properly-proportioned flag on the pole. The retired flag was presented to Greta.
The post also recognized Greta for highlighting the issue and wanting to make sure that her school was properly displaying the U.S. flag.
For her leadership on this initiative, as well as her concern about the U.S. flag and how its display reflects on her school, Greta was presented with a Citation of Appreciation from Post 594 and was also awarded the American Legion ‘Americanism Medal’ by the post.
