During the American Legion Department of Louisiana Convention held in Alexandria June 2-5, Chairperson of the department Media and Communication Commission Lynette Blanchard (left) and Department Commander Richard Bell (center) recognized the 7th District for winning the District Publication Award. Dennis Hart (right) is the editor and publisher of the 7th District Newsletter, and he accepted the accolades for the district. Hart is also commander of Post 225 in Church Point, and his post won the Local Newspaper Award. Post 225 gets tremendous support from the Church Point News. Post 225 member Joe Monroe gathers news articles throughout the year, and he assembles the nomination package for the Local Newspaper Award.
